Vertical Tension in Silver Halide
Vertical Tension in Silver Halide
This photographic work, titled “Vertical Tension in Silver Halide,” depicts all three works in the “Vertical Tension” series, captured as a triple exposure in-camera onto black & white film.
The crystalline grain of the Ilford FP-4 film becomes a focal part of the work as it stacks across all three exposures, producing a painterly image that casts the original sculptural works into an entirely new medium, collapsing multiple viewpoints into a single visage.
In homage to Marcel Duchamp’s “Nude Descending a Staircase No. 2” and Gerhard Richter’s “Ema.”
